Je Suis Charlie

I have a question?

Why do people claim to know what God thinks or what God wants?

Today's evil shootings in Paris illuminate something for me.  Apparently the gunmen were shouting Allahu akhbar - God is great.

God doesn't seem that great because the gunmen didn't believe they could trust God to do His own work.  They decided to do it for him.  They avenged the Prophet.  Did they?  They know that, do they?

What kind of faith is it that doesn't trust God to know best?

I keep hearing Christian apologists telling me that actually faith means doubt.  I can't help thinking that actually faith means making whatever you want up and claiming it is God's will.

So God wants evil?

No, the faithful so often are afraid that, actually, there is nothing in this God hypothesis.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

If people are afraid of an idea...
